Stanley retained last season's Prostar kits for the start of the new season but in September they faced a winding up order over £308,000 in unpaid taxes owed to HM Revenue & Customs. Now under new ownership, the club launched the Save Our Stanley campaign to avoid going the way of the original Stanley club. Part of the fundraising effort was the launch of a new home kit, which was used for the first time on 24 November. HFK awaits details of a new away strip.

Barnet revert to predominantly amber shirts after playing in all-black last season. The new kit is very reminiscent of the one designed by Le Coq Sportif in 2006. The new away kit is a daring combination of pale violet (recalling the colours of the original Barnet FC back in the 19th century) and silver-gray.

Bournemouth did well last season to retain their place in the Football League after being handed a points penalty. They have kept last season's kits for the new season.

City have taken a brave decision, dispensing with the familiar claret and amber stripes in favour of an all-claret outfit based on the strip worn during 1972-73. Black ribbons are embroidered on the rear of the shirt to commemorate the 56 supporters who died in the 1985 fire. The smart black away kit features two vertical stripes in traditional claret and amber.

Burton Albion make their debut in the Football League with a team built by Nigel Clough (now manager of Derby County) after squeaking through as champions of the Conference last season, having squandered a 12 point lead. Their home kit is unchanged from last season, bright yellow shirts with black and white trim, black shorts and stockings. Their new away kit consists of white shirts with blue shorts and stockings.

Bury celebrate their 125th anniversary this season and to mark the occasion they have introduced two spectacular kits drawn from their long history. The home kit is based on their original chocolate and light blue halved shirts while the away kit is based on the kit the team wore in 1892-93. A special badge has been introduced that incorporates the modern crest combined with the V styled badge that appeared for the first time in 1974 and designed by Bury fan, Nick Hunsley.
The white special edition strip made its only appearance on 5 December against Barnet and was then auctioned off in aid of charity.

Crewe, as usual, have changed their home kit for the new season but keep to their traditional scheme of red shirts and socks with white shorts. The basic strip is smart enough but the large Lotto patches and new Mornflake logo, which appears out of a white block, make for a cluttered appearance. An attractive white and orange outfit is introduced as Crewe's away kit.
Last season's blue and yellow away kit is retained for 2009-10 as the third strip.

The yellow away kit is unchanged from last season. A slightly different versions was worn in the play-off final, which brought promotion.

Darlington have two traditional themes and, after wearing hoops for a number of seasons (their original colours) they have reverted to white shirts with black shorts (a scheme that first appeared in 1951). The sleeves are mainly black with flowing trim extending onto the body and set off with metallic gold trim. Clubs supplied by Errea often have a bespoke home kit but, because replica sales are usually lower, select their away kit from the Italian company's current catalogue, which is exactly what the Quakers have done.

Errea inavariably produce interesting designs and have done so for Grimsby in the second season of their contract. The home shirt has stripes restored to the sleeves and a white yoke across the shoulder. Red, the club's traditional third colour appears in the piping on shirt and shorts and the vertical stripes on the stockings. The away kit is similar to last season's third choice with added black and white trimmings.
Secondary sponsorship by Findus, part of the Young's Frozen Foods group appears on the back of the shorts.

Hereford's new home strip is very similar to the Nike set worn last season, even down to the false collar, but with the addition of smart black side panels that taper towards the shoulder. The introduction of a new shirt sponsor's logo marks a minor landmark as the team has borne the Sun Valley brand for a remarkable 18 seasons: in fact Cargill is the multinational group that owns Sun Valley. The home kit may be along traditional lines but the club have certainly pushed the boat out with their new, bright orange away kit.

The Shrimps' new strips are produced by Genesis Group International Ltd, Puma's UK licensee, whose Marketing Manager, Julie Orange, waxes lyrical in the companies press release. The away kit is described as having "asymmetrical design features" (presumably she means "symmetrical") and "sharp angular lines" (although I have been unable to detect these) while the home kit has curved side panels for "added dynamicity" (a term my dictionary fails to shed any light on).
Morecambe's shirts now feature two small gold stars below the crest commemorating the team's two Wembley wins while a small disc has been added above to mark their last season at Christie Park. It features a sailing boat and the text Christie Park - End of an Era.

The Cobblers are consistent in only one thing; they are either fighting against relegation or for promotion. Having lost their place in League One last season we can confidently expect them to be involved at one end of the League Two table or the other in 2010. Their new home kit seems to be inspired by the team's recent chaotic career with its spectacular, abstract design, courtesy of Italian company Errea. Love it or hate it, this shirt is going to be very collectable. Claret shorts and socks are also available. The away kit is equally stunning, in powder blue with white trimmings and metallic gold piping. The claret and gold sponsorship looks better than any estate agent's logo deserves to be.

Just one week after County were bought by a middle-east consortium, the new owners made clear their ambitions by persuading Sven Goran Erikkson to join the club as Director of Football to work alongside current manager Ian McParland. To mark what Maggies' fans will expect to be a new era, a new crest has been introduced. Given the interesting outfits the team has worn in previous seasons, it is a little disappointing that they have opted for a standard Nike Milan template but it must be said that it does look smart in County's traditional black and white colours. When necessary, white shorts and socks can be worn with the home shirt.
Supporters kept in suspense until 11 September before the away kit was unveiled may have concluded it was hardly worth the wait for what is, in the end, another standard Nike outfit from the 2008 catalogue.

Vale's new away kit is a rather smart affair with black shirt with neat white pinstripes teamed with white shorts. Vandanel have delivered an original design that pays homage to Vale's traditional colour scheme, down to amber piping throughout although, if we're going to be fussy (and we are), the white panels at the armpit and down the inner sleeve detract from what is otherwise a very fine kit.
Last season's "away" kit in two shades of blue now serves as a third strip while the home set is retained unchanged.

Rochdale have signed a three-year contract with Carbrini Sportswear, providing the club with direct input into the design of their kits, a factor that was lacking in their previous deal with Nike who offered only strips from their general catalogue. The black and blue striped theme has proved popular with the Spotland faithful and returns again this season. One downside is that Carbrini's strips are liberally plastered with the company logo. The choice of violet and white for the away strip, while very attractive, proved difficult to distinguish when 'Dale played away against teams in blue. The white shirts, provided by Cabrini for pre-season matches, were drafted in for the match at Macclesfield on 27 February. Blacks shorts and socks are worn with the home strip when required.
JD Sports, Carbrini's parent company, have secondary sponsorship on the back of the shirts and shorts. The original sponsor's logo was deemed too small and was replaced in September by a larger version.
