The Cherries have reverted to their ever-popular striped home shirts last seen in 2007-08, To complete the nostalgic look, Focal Point, who cancelled their sponsorship deal when Bournemouth were relegated in 2008, once again have their name on the shirts. The away strip is similar in design but with blue in place of red. The third kit, in cream and black, was launched in September.

Narrow stripes and a red yoke make for a smart home shirt. Yellow and black stripes replace last season's light and dark blue away strip. Black shorts are registered for the away strip but yellow ones have frequently appeared to avoid colour clashes. White shorts and socks can be worn with the striped home shirt when needed.
The silver special kit was commissioned to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, whose title appeared on the shirts. Originally intended to appear in the match with Notts County, the club announced 24 hours before the game that the Bees would wear their usual home kit and the special kit would be worn in one game in the 2012-13 season instead.

You will need to look very closely to find the differences between the new Bury home strip and that worn last season when they were promoted. A V neck replaces the flappy collar and two gold stars have been added to the crest and the shorts trim is altered but that's about it.

JD Sport's Carbrini brand have taken over from Le Coq Sportif at Carlisle and provided a very restrained looking home kit, with the usual red trim confined to the crew neck. The team usually wear variations on their red, white and blue colours (or the green, red and white of their sponsor) as a change kit so the introduction of a yellow and navy strip is something of an innovation, last used during the Sixties.

After acquiring a new home at the start of last season, Chesterfield were promoted as League Two champions. Their new home strip appears to be solidly conservative but, in common with others worn in recent years, there is a trick or two in the detailing. This season it is a subtle sunburst effect centred on the crest, which, according to the press release, is a something the Spireites have in common with Real Madrid. Bless.
The away strip has pinstripes, enjoying a revival this season, on the shirt. These also appear on the third shirt, released in late September.

Exeter have gone with the trend for retro style with a rather fine home shirt with 3" stripes that once again appear on the sleeves. The old-fashioned look is completed by a traditional collar with contrasting fly and inner.
Last season's fine change strip is retained but does not provide sufficient contrast for some games so black shirts from 2009-10 were worn at Stevenage in August.

Hartlepool's new home strip is practically unchanged from that worn for the past two seasons. The stripes are reversed and are in Nike's new jagged template and there is contrasting trim on shorts and socks but otherwise it is pretty much the same. The dark red away strip is new. The orange third strip (basically last season's away) was worn for no apparent reason, at Notts County in October.

The black socks worn with this season's home strip evoke the great Herbert Chapman team of the Twenties. The stripes are described as "Huddersfield blue." Red and black once again appear in the away strip, which is in Umbro's latest double-chevron style.
Incidentally, I see that the new strap line on their web site is "Huddersfield Town - The Yorkshire Club." I wonder what they make of that in Leeds, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham...
The one-off charity strip features red, navy and sky blue, the colours of the three branches of the armed services. Clever that.

Oh dear - this one has really set the cat among the pigeons. County have worn predominantly white shirts with black shorts several times in their long history but, as the club approaches its 150th anniversary, this was not what supporters expected to see. Feelings run so high that a petition has been raised to try to get the club to revert to the beloved stripes. The club have since confirmed that striped shirts will indeed be worn in 2012-13.

The Latics retain their home strip for a second season and introduce a new all-black away kit with minimalist old gold trim that will also be used for two seasons. The club's new crest appears on the black kit and will be added to the home kit when a new one is introduced next season. The white third strip is also retained.

Relegated North End must be hoping that reverting to all-white as worn in the Seventies will bring a change of fortune. The new strips are the latest version of the popular Puma King template and while these may be standard outfits it cannot be denied that they are rather smart.
The red third strip (Puma's Powercat 5.1) was used for the match at Notts County in January because the club's supplier had run out of yellow shirts, which were supposed to have been retained from last season. Preston made a virtue of necessity by auctioning off the red shirts in aid of the Sir Tom Finney Foundation after the game.

'Dales new home strip is barely changed from last season. The popular purple away kit is retired after two seasons but the colours are retained for the new version. Sensibly this uses white as the main shirt colour so the problems that occasionally arose with colour clashes last season will be avoided. Nevertheless, the black strip introduced last season was used (with white shorts and socks) at Sheffield Wednesday in August.
The new shirt sponsor has a pleasing resonance as the Co-op movement began in Rochdale.

Blade's supporters can take some comfort, after the team were relegated last time out, that at least derby games with Wednesday will be on the calendar. There's not a great deal of difference from last season's home kit: the stripes are reversed and narrower while the sleeves and shoulders are solid red. The new away strip is in bright yellow with black trim.
United are sharing the same sponsors as their rivals, Wednesday to avoid alienating any supporters.

Wednesday have opted for a version of Puma's King template for their away kit in silver-grey with an owl peeping shyly out of the lower part of the shirt. Like so many other clubs, they have adopted Puma's King template for their home and third strips, the latter being in an attractive "petrol blue" shade with white and grey trim. The blue away strip is a different design with red flashes below the shoulder.

Kappa replace Joma this season and, by contouring the traditional quarters have produced a home strip design that is really rather sexy. The change kit is all-red with navy trim and those very intrusive Kappa logos feature on both sets.

The new Yeovil home strip features hoops of a more conventional width than the very broad ones seen last season and the black trim is gone, replaced with understated yellow accents. Last season's smart away strip is kept while the new third kit is in fluorescent yellow so the least said the better.
