Although the Welsh FA's contract with JJB Sports still had four of six years left to run, their new strip, unveiled in the friendly against Luxembourg and played at Parc Y Scarlets in Llanelli on 11 August, was an Umbro design. The new away strip (worn with the white home shorts) appeared for the first time in the European Championship qualifier against Montenegro, which Wales lost. Red shorts were worn when Wales met Scotland in Dublin on 24 May 2011.

Ahead of the European Championship qualifiers, Wales wore their new all-red strip in the friendly against Australia played at Cardiff City Stadium on 10 August, 2011. The new charcoal change strip was introduced shortly afterwards.

The FAW and Umbro now introduced new strips every season and for 2012 they took inspiration from the iconic Admiral outfit from the 1970s, adding a yellow stripe trimmed in green to the new shirt, which was worn for the first time against Bosnia & Herzegovina on 15 August 2012. The new away shirt, worn against Croatia in November, is a rather fine re-creation of the strip worn at the end of the 19th century, down to the self-coloured sleeves. This shirt is solid green on the back.

The FAW Wales' crest was given a facelift in 2012.

With Umbro sold off, their kits all but disappeared and the FAW adopted Adidas as their technical sponsor for the Euro 16 qualifiers. The new all-red outfit was worn for the first time at the Cardiff City Stadium in a friendly against Finland on 16 November 2013. The white change strip was introduced in February 2014.

In November 2014, just nine months after the white change kit was launched, a new yellow version was revealed for 2015. Unsurprisingly supporters were not happy.

Just 12 months after the last change, the FA of Wales introduced a very plain new first strip as well as an unusual grey alternative with neon trim in good time for the 2016 European Championship, not to mention Christmas. This proved to be an unlucky strip: the team failed to win in any of the five games in which it was worn. Rather than wear it again against Moldova the FAW persuaded UEFA that they were concerned about "a kit clash" (there was none) and were allowed to wear a one-off yellow strip. Wales won in Chisinau 2-0.

A home defeat at the hands of Ireland in their final qualifying game ended Welsh hopes of following up their remarkable campaign in the Euro 2016 finals with an appearance in the World Cup finals. Their new first choice strip, worn for the first time in November 2017 against France, returned to a smart if uninspiring all-red look trimmed in white, worn on this occasion with white socks. (This variant was also worn against Mexico in May 2018.) The change strip revived the white and dark green colours worn five years previously and debuted in the team's fine 6-0 win over China PR in Nanning, which marked Ryan Giggs first match in charge.
