An IFA Disciplinary Committee chose not to punish Carrick after their manager failed to properly serve a touch line ban. Warrenpoint appealed the decision but lost at an arbitration hearing. Had the appeal been successful, Carrick would have suffered a three-point penalty which would have relegated them and Warrenpoint would have gone into the play-offs. The club have stayed with Nike strips, updated to the latest Striker design.

Coleraine have retained both strips for the third season in a row although the sponsor has changed. Since 2017 marks the club's 90th anniversary, a special kit was commissioned and worn in the Irish Cup. Ninety replicas were sold to supporters.
Another new kit was commissioned for the Irish Cup Final
against Linfield. After losing the coin toss to decide which team would change their strip, the manager requested a one-off outfit so the team would turn out wearing traditional blue and white. Both one-off strips featured a special anniversary crest.

Glenavon finished third (again) last season and won the Irish Cup. Their strips are unchanged. Their European campaign was brief, however, due to a heavy defeat by KR Reykjavik in the first qualifying round.

Glentoran had a very average season, finishing in sixth place and losing to Cliftonville in the Europa League play-off final. Fifty years ago the Glentoran team played in the United States as Detroit Cougars in the United Soccer Association, a precursor of the NASL. The names of the players are printed into the cougar motif and 134 limited edition shirts are being sold to supporters (Glentoran are 134 years old this season.)
