European Nations Cup 1964 Final Stage

european nations cup 1964 logoThe second European Football Championship involved 29 teams and once again politics intruded: Greece withdrew after being drawn against Albania. As in 1960, the entrants played in a knock out tournament with home and away legs in each tie to produce four finalists. Spain were chosen to host the final competition and on this occasion, the Spanish government gave UEFA a guarantee that it would not interfere when Spain were scheduled to play the Soviet Union.
