FIFA World Cup 1950 Group 4
Turkey had originally qualified for the finals by default and France had agreed to take their place but they also withdrew because of the amount of travel that would be expected between the various venues. With Scotland's chairman refusing to send a team despite the protests of his players and the please of the England captain it was too late to reorganise the groups or invite a replacement so only two teams were left in the group.
