UEFA Euro 2008 Knock Out Stages
In a departure from previous finals, Teams from Groups A and B were kept separate from those from Groups C and D until the final. This meant that sides that had met in the group phase could not meet in the final match. Only the two largest of the eight stadia were used, one in Austria and the other in Switzerland. The Silver Goal rule adopted in 2004 was dropped and single yellow cards received in the group and quarter-finals were wiped out.
