Three goals up with five minutes left, England seemed to be cruising but they were in for a fright. Stoumbos scored for Canada just two minutes after Coultard had netted for England and Donnelly made it 3-2 one minute into added time.

The tiny crowd that turned up were treated to a match that ebbed and flowed. Canada were 2-0 up after 20 minutes but Nwadike pulled one back in the 26th minute. Burtini made it 3-1 ten minutes after the break but the Super Falcons fought back with goals from Avre (60') and Okoroafor (77').

Norway rolled over the Canadian team in style. Three of their goals came in the final nine minutes as their opponents tired.

Karen Farley got England off to a flying start in the tenth minute only for Okoroafor to equalise three minutes later. Walker restored England's lead (27') and Farley scored again seven minutes before half-time. Nwadike pulled one back with fifteen minutes left but England survived a tense finish.
