FIFA World Cup 1958 Group 4
England faced a tough group that included a very talented Brazil with the 17 year old Pelé making his World Cup debut, the reigning Olympic Champions, USSR and Austria, who had finished third in the 1954 tournament. Having not conceded a goal, Brazil finished top of the group with an infinite goal average. The Soviet Union eventually knocked England out in a play-off.
