2020 European Football Championship Knock Out Stages
Where matches went into extra-time, teams were allowed to field a sixth substitute. The four highest ranked teams finishing third in their groups went into the Round of 16 where the draw was constructed in such a way as to keep them apart from fellow group members until the final.
The Round of 16 saw the tournament sprang to life and we witnessed some extraordinarily dramatic games. Both the European and World champions were knocked out as were the much fancied Dutch side. Italy and Spain struggled to defeat supposedly inferior opponents while England beat Germany for the first time in the finals of a major tournament since 1966.
